UC Davis Police Department Star

Operations

Here at the University of California at Davis Fire Department we have an Operations Division that is comprised of one Assistant Chief, 21 career Firefighters (Fire Specialists) and 15 Student Resident Firefighters. The Operations Division is responsible for providing the UC Davis central campus with emergency services (i.e. fire, medical, rescue) utilizing three rotating shifts of no less than six personnel per shift. Twenty-four hours a day, at least two Captains, two Engineers, and two Firefighters are prepared to respond to any emergency that might occur on campus. To do this the line crew staffs one Hazardous Materials vehicle, one Fire Engine, and one Aerial Ladder Truck, with a Reserve Fire Engine available for use during special circumstances. Our Operations Division also provides the campus with dependable Fire Prevention services, inspecting and testing everything from building egress to fire sprinkler systems under the guidance of our Prevention Bureau. We also provide Emergency Medical Service coverage for large events like concerts and festivals.
