NAEMT EMT Refresher Course:
The NAEMT EMT Refresher course is a 22-hour instructor led virtual course designed to meet NREMT’s national recertification requirements in accordance with the National Continued Competency Program (NCCP). The NAEMT virtual refresher course is built from NAEMT’s evidence-based continuing education courses, including Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS), Emergency Pediatric Care (EPC), Geriatric Education for EMS (GEMS), and EMS Safety. Applicable portions of those courses have been incorporated into the schedule of the EMT refresher course. The refresher is taught virtually via ZOOM.
All NAEMT continuing education courses are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Prehospital Continuing Education (CAPCE) and recognized by the National Registry of EMTs (NREMT).
Participants needing to recertify their EMT license in the State of California will also need to attend an additional 8-hour in-person skills day and show competency through direct observation/testing in the following skills:
- Trauma Assessment
- Medical Assessment
- Bag-Valve-Mask Ventilation
- Oxygen Administration
- Cardiac Arrest Management with an AED
- Hemorrhage Control and Shock Management
- Spinal Motion Restriction – Supine and Seated
- Penetrating Chest Injury
- Epinephrine and Naloxone Administration
- Childbirth and Neonatal Resuscitation
- Glucometer Use. The in-person skills day will be held on the UC Davis Campus, in Davis CA.
*Participants needing the additional skill day must register separately and will incur an additional fee. Participants only needing to participate in the skills day may sign up for the skill only.
