UC Davis Fire deployed Captain Steve Dunn as a Task Force Leader to coordinate fire personnel and resources from the Lake Tahoe Basin in response to the Eaton Fire in Southern California.
Meanwhile, the three major fires in the Los Angeles area continue to grow, now spanning over 27,000 acres with 0% containment.

UC Davis Fire’s Brush 34 engine, along with a strike team from regional partners, has been diverted to the Eaton Fire.
The Eaton Fire, now over 2,200 acres, is burning with critical fire behavior, fueled by ongoing Red Flag and High Wind warnings. More than 80,000 residents have been evacuated, and tragically, two fatalities have been reported.

On the evening of January 7, UC Davis Fire’s Brush 34 engine and its crew joined the Yolo County Strike Team responding to the Palisades Fire in Southern California.
This fast-moving wildfire has already burned over 3,000 acres, forced the evacuation of approximately 30,000 residents, and impacted an unknown number of structures.
The strike team, comprising resources from UC Davis Fire’s Brush 34, Woodland Fire, City of Davis Fire, Winters Fire, and Yocha Dehe Fire, is under the leadership of a strike team leader from Woodland and a trainee from Yocha Dehe.
The UC Davis Brush 34 crew includes Captain Nate Potter, Engineer Erich Schultz, Firefighter Gerrit Dykzeul, and Firefighter Chad Cunningham.
