Committed to Your Safety—Call 911 for Fast Response

Emergencies are unpredictable, but one thing should always stay constant: your first move should be to call 911.

Your safety is our top priority, which is why we never send invoices—just fire trucks.

Calling 911 is completely free, and our team is ready to respond quickly to keep situations under control. Whether it’s a medical concern, a fire alarm, or something that doesn’t feel right, don’t hesitate to call. The sooner our dispatchers are notified, the sooner our first responders can act.

The UC Davis Fire Department is dedicated to protecting our campus community. Every firefighter on staff is highly trained and deeply committed to ensuring the safety of our students, staff, and faculty. For non-emergency situations, we also have Health 34, another valuable resource available at (530) 754-3434. Like our emergency services, their assistance is completely free.

A Note on Ambulance Services
When you call 911 for medical emergencies, a private ambulance company responds alongside the UC Davis Fire Department. While the ambulance provider may charge for transportation to a hospital, this only occurs if the patient agrees to be transported. Patients always have the right to decline transportation or other services, and they will not be billed if they choose not to be transported. There is no cost for an on-scene assessment or treatment if transport isn’t required.

Fainting, for example, can be a serious medical condition, and calling 911 immediately is critical if someone faints in class. If a student were to faint in class and declines treatment or transport once emergency responders arrive, they will not be billed for services.

Together, we can create a safer environment for everyone who lives, works, and learns here. Please don’t hesitate to reach out whenever you need us—we’re here for you.
