Controlled Wildland Training Burns Planned for Russell Ranch

The West Valley Regional Fire Training Consortium will conduct planned wildland training burns at Russell Ranch on July 21, 22 and 24, weather permitting.

Members of the campus community and surrounding area may see smoke during the scheduled training. The burns will be small, carefully managed and conducted under controlled conditions. There is no threat to the campus or surrounding communities.

Participating agencies include the UC Davis, West Sacramento, Woodland, Winters, West Plainfield and Yocha Dehe fire departments.

This annual training supports vegetation management and property protection efforts while providing firefighters with valuable hands-on experience in wildland firing operations and suppression tactics.
