New AED Inspection Program

Beginning this summer, our Student EMT employees are going to start performing safety and maintenance checks on all campus AEDs. At minimum, the AEDs will be checked quarterly by our staff (our goal is to check every AED at least monthly). 

Wildland Fire Training 2020

Just two days after undergoing annual wildland fire training at UC Davis’ Russell Ranch, the UC Davis Fire Department, and other regional firefighting departments, responded to the largest fire of this year’s early season so far.

EMS Captain Scott Hatcher Recieves Fire Chief's Citation of Excellence Award

UC Davis Fire Department EMS Captain Scott Hatcher becomes the 4th person in the department to receive the Fire Chief's Citation of Excellence. This award is given to a person, or persons, who through an event or program they created have elevated the reputation of the campus fire department and the UC Davis campus as a whole. The event or program will be a representation of the department’s values and seeks to recognize those who selflessly go above and beyond.

Captain Hatcher is the vision behind our EMS and Pre-Hospital Care Division.

New Home for Antique Fire Engine 4

The UC Davis Fire Department's (UCDFD) antique Engine 4 found it's way to a new home at the Sacramento Regional Fire Museum in West Sacramento. Engine 4 will be housed in the museum along with other antique apparatuses from Dixon, Fairfield, Winters, Sacramento City and others in this brand new facility.

UC Davis Fire Welcomes Its First Medical Director

Dr. Lisa Mills starts as the Medical Director of the UC Davis Fire Department.
Dr. Mills is a Northern California native with strong family ties to the Sacramento Valley. She is excited to Boldly Go with UC Davis Fire Department to the next level of emergency services beginning with community-focused fire, medical, and emergency care.

UC Davis Fire, Police to Train for Active Shooter

UC Davis Fire and Police hold drills to train for active-shooter incidents.
The drills are set for Tuesday and Thursday, Sept. 4 and 6, and Thursday, Sept. 20, at the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts. Each exercise will begin with set-up at about 7:30 a.m. and the main activity will be from about 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
