  • Who should call Health 34?
  • Anyone experiencing a non-emergency situation while on the Davis campus can call Health 34. This includes students, staff members, faculty members, community members, visitors and others who aren’t affiliated with campus.

 

  • If I call 911, will they dispatch the Health 34 team to help me?
  • No. 911 is for emergencies and active crises.
  • Is Health 34 the same as 911? Or the Police or Fire Department?
  • No. If you're experiencing an emergency, call 911 immediately.

    Health 34 is a new addition to campus safety resources, with an emphasis on minor medical care, crisis prevention, and compassionate mental health support.

    By delivering this type of care to our community on campus, Health 34 will in many cases help prevent situations from getting to a point where they need a higher level of emergency care.

    Health 34 also offers support for people in the aftermath of a crisis— a vulnerable and lonely time when people need help that isn't typically provided by existing emergency support resources.
  • Who comes when I call Health 34?
  • The Health 34 team consists of health providers and wellness educators from the UC Davis Fire Department. At times, students from the health sciences may accompany the Health 34 team.
  • What's the phone number for Health 34?
  • Contact Health 34 for non-emergency issues, support, and navigation to services 24/7/365 at: (530)754-3434.
  • Are services provided by Health 34 completely free of charge?
  • Yes.
  • If I call Health 34, will they be able to connect me to 911?
  • No. If you believe that you have an emergency, you should call 911 immediately.
  • Do the campus blue-light boxes have an option to contact Health 34?
  • ​No. The campus blue boxes only contact 911.
  • Will the Health 34 team respond to off-campus locations?
  • No. Health 34 is currently restricted to Davis campus locations for service requests.
  • Will the Health 34 team take someone to their residence following a service call?
  • We can take people to their residence if they live in Davis, after a service call.

    For those that live outside of Davis, then the Health 34 team will work with other local resources to help make transportation connections.
  • How quickly will a Health 34 team arrive?
  • The Health 34 team is available 24/7.

    Arrival time can vary, but callers will be provided an approximate arrival time over the phone.
  • Why is it called Health 34?
  • Health 34 is delivered by UC Davis Fire Station #34 and provides services that support the overall health and wellbeing of our community.
  • Are Health 34 responders mandated reporters?
  • Yes. Health 34 team members are required to notify the Harassment & Discrimination Assistance and Prevention Program (HDAPP) of any potential violation of the University's Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment (SVSH) Policy.
  • Does Health 34 work in compliance with personal health information privacy?
  • Yes. Health 34 operates with the same protection measures for personal health information as the UC Davis Fire Department.
  • Who are Health 34's main partners?
  • Health 34 is an innovative partnership between Finance, Operations and Administration (FOA) and Student Affairs (SA), delivered by UC Davis Fire Department Station #34.
