UC Davis Fire Dept. has for years offered courses that build on foundations for lifesaving skills for healthcare professionals.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
This advanced course highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care, recognition and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest, immediate post-cardiac arrest; and acute dysrhythmia, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes (ACS).
Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS)
Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS) remains the gold standard of education for emergency medical assessment and treatment. Endorsed by the National Association of EMS Physicians, AMLS emphasizes the use of the AMLS Assessment Pathway, a systematic tool for assessing and managing common medical conditions with urgent accuracy.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
The PALS Provider Course aims to improve outcomes for pediatric patients by preparing healthcare providers to effectively recognize and intervene in patients with respiratory emergencies, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest by using high‐performance team dynamics and high‐quality individual skills.
Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)
NAEMT's Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) is recognized around the world as the leading continuing education program for prehospital emergency trauma care. PHTLS is developed by NAEMT in cooperation with the American College of Surgeons' Committee on Trauma. PHTLS promotes critical thinking as the foundation for providing quality, pre-hospital care.
